EZCAP 280H problems

Fault: A HDMI to USB recorder had an 12V adapter plugged into its 5V supply port.

A total of 3 power converters were destroyed, one for 3.3V, one for 1.8V, and one for 1V (exact value unknown).

Two of them had a text “A15T” written on them. By this link, A1** could have been a APS1006 (link to PDF). These are 0.6V reference step down converters, which I replaced by TLV62569DBVR (I checked that SMD inductor value was the same also).

Another one had text “E15J9”. As the other one had also another inductor, but otherwise seemed to have similar pinout, I replaced it with MP2105DJ-LF-P. It might have a different reference voltage, but if I start with a 0.6V reference chip, it should be safe enough.

Chips:

• U1 has 3.3V output. Replaced by TLV62569DBVR and working. Enable input of U1 is tied to output voltage of U3 (1V currently)
• U2 has 1.8V output. Used as supply in U9. Same as U1, replaced by TLV62569DBVR and working.
• U3 has 1.4V output. Was with text “E15J9”. It was replaced by MP2105DJ-LF-P. For my setup, the output is shorted by 10 ohm, probably in MU1 chip (usually not normal).
• U9 is IT6113 (HDMI 1.4 transmitter with 3D support)
• U12 is CAT9883C (3x 8-bit Video Analog-to-Digital Data Converter)
• U13 (not shown on the image, it's close to U9) is WM8960 audio codec. Not checked.
• MU1 still unknown, probably a microcomputer with USB and HDMI support.

What I tried so far: thermal camera shows no weird chips warming up, everything ok. Green light coming up OK, but no recording light and no files. Update: at some point, there was a file with 0 size.

Result: Still, USB device is not recording, red light is not turning on, HDMI pass-through doesn't show a picture. When I get another one, I think comparing to another Ezcap might help to narrow down the issue, but it's still not worth replacing MU1.

Update 2025/06/26: I got another Ezcap 280H and confirmed the voltages.
